About Black Box
TerraVision has joined forces with PocketPhone to develop
BlackBox, a system using messaging and information packets across standard
and new generation communications networks to create terrestrial tracking
systems for freight carriers, fleet operators as well as remote monitoring
or operation of plant.
The most commonly used system involves a vehicle being
equiped with a 'BlackBox' containing a "General Packet Radio Service"
(GPRS) modem, a Global Positioning System (GPS) device and data recorders
(brakes, engine temp, driver etc). The position and operational data
is then packeted and sent via the GPRS network to the WebVision server.
This data is then accessed graphically via display modules on PC or
on the web.

GPRS is the most commonly used data delivery system
although CDMA or satellite communication systems can be substituted
for use in remote areas.
